As mentioned, a 3.4-liter twin-turbo V-6 motivates all 2026 Tundra models. It’s paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. However, there are some output differences, depending on the model and your choice of gas-only or hybrid performance. With the entry-level SR variant, you get gas capability to the tune of 358 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. All other non-hybrid versions up the ante to 389 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque.
Hybrid editions with the i-FORCE MAX powertrain deliver the highest output: 437 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque. This is also the powertrain you’ll want if efficiency is your top priority, though a gas SR5 with RWD, a 6.5-foot bed, and a Double Cab will let you achieve the truck’s maximum towing strength of 12,000 pounds.1 Alternatively, the SR model with RWD, an 8.1-foot bed, and a Double Cab is what you’ll need to reach the top payload capacity of 1,850 pounds.2
Don’t let these maximums lock you into a specific variant – plenty of configurations are capable of towing over 10,500 or even 11,000 pounds,1 as well as carrying over 1,500 pounds in the bed.2

1Before towing, confirm your vehicle and trailer are compatible, hooked up and loaded properly and that you have any necessary additional equipment. Do not exceed any Weight Ratings and follow all instructions in your Owner’s Manual. The maximum you can tow depends on base curb weight plus the total weight of any cargo, occupants, and added vehicle equipment. “Added vehicle equipment” includes additional standard/optional equipment and accessories added by the manufacturer, dealers, and/or vehicle owners. The only way to be certain of your vehicle’s exact curb weight is to weigh your vehicle without passengers or cargo. (Calculated with the new SAE J2807 method.) Installation of a tow hitch receiver or other accessories located near the rear bumper or side-door kick sensors may require disabling or removing the kick sensor, and the sensor operation setting in your vehicle should be turned off.
